Living By: Inspiration

When you are inspired by some great purpose, some
extraordinary project, all your thoughts break
their bonds: Your mind transcends limitations,
your consciousness expands in every direction, and
you find yourself in a new, great, and wonderful
world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents
become alive, and you discover yourself to be a
greater person by far than you ever dreamed
yourself to be.

Chanelling Pollyanna

I am reading “Glad No Matter What   Transforming Loss and Change Into Gift and Opportunity”, by SARK.

SARK writes how all of her life she has heard people say to her, “Oh you’re just such a Pollyanna. Pollyanna is thought of some kind of positive ninny who  naively tried to disregard the “tough times”.  SARK continues to describe Pollyanna as the fictional story of a young girl whose parents had died, and she was sent to live with relatives she didn’t know in a small town, thereby inventing “The Glad Game” and relentlessly found good in every situation even though she was living through her own touch times. By doing that she transformed the town.

We shouldn’t disregard pain, sorrow or suffering by finding gifts and gladness in every situation, it means that  you choose to see the gift in every situation and believe it’s always there, SARK says.

If you choose to find and see “the BAD, then you will. You have already set up and determined that you will see bad in a or an upcoming situation.

SARK continues by saying that people practicing and sharing gladness are Gifts to the world, no  matter what circumstances are happening.

I have chosen to also live my life as a “real” Pollyanna and share a life made of goodness and gladness with the world. YEE HAW!

What’s for dinner?

You’d think by this time in this my current life that I would be organized to the nth degree. Meaning that I would have dinner menu’s in order weeks at a time. I can really only shop once or twice a month these days, so WHYYYY do I not have dinner menus made up and posted on the fridge??

The FRIDGE, thats another thing. WHY is it that when I hold the door open, the food just doesn’t’ formulate into meals. The light is on in there so there is no excuse for it not to see what its doing. Still it just sits there, glaring at me and taunting me. Like I’m disturbing it. If there was a bowl of salad in there, I could understand the glaring, as would be ‘dressing’- Ar ar ar

Spell to sell my property or Move Home (via Soraya)

The time has come to sell my beautiful little piece of property that has served us well for thirty some odd years and move on. It has brought us food for our table from the beautiful garden that both my parents and my husband of recent years, planted, nurtured and reaped the bounty of its gifts. I remember my mother canning the tomatoes and putting them in the pantry that my father built, among other items as well. Miguel grew beautiful tasty tomatoes and cucumbers-yum!—We also had for a time, chickens and fresh eggs. Although we had 4 chickens most days we got 3 eggs, I guess they took turns. Hee!–At one time there were wild and sweet strawberries growing, The beautiful camelia tree that was planted was my grandmother’s favorite. She could see it from her bedroom window. Yucca plants from the southwest were planted and grew exotically. Roses, geraniums, tea roses and other things of color where planted and grew with love to the sun on this property. —We also had of late, a decent sized swimming pool, more like wading pool that Miguel and enjoyed in the late afternoon and evenings after dinner. — All of the Meow Kitties we have had over the years were like jungle cats, roaming, stalking, pouncing, playing, and bringing us their fresh kill to thank their humans for taking care of them. It is also so relaxing to take a minute to watch them groom themselves and sleeping in the sun on the porch or in the yard. —So many memories. But the time has come for us to move on, and to leave this precious piece of land with someone who will love, cherish, respect and honor it as it as much as we have.

I have had several emails recently from my web visitors who, like myself are trying to move home, and asking for a moving home spell. Perhaps with a little combined effort from everyone who is in the same position we can break this property deadlock. Eating Carbs At Night AND Losing Weight???

Are my eyes deceiving me? A newsletter from confirmed a study and I quote: Researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem put about 60 overweight police on a diet for six months. During the diet, the control group ate their carbs during their daytime meals. The experimental group ate much of their carbs during their dinner. Although the two groups had the same food, the control group lost 5kg of fat, while the experimental group lost 7kg. And when the researchers asked the dieting police about their hunger, the experimental group said they felt less hungry than before they began their diet.

The results were connected with the hormone called adiponectin. Adiponectin helps the muscles absorb more nutrients from the circulatory system. When the experimental group ate their carbs at night, their adiponectin levels went up. Not only that, they also had less insulin and glucose levels, and greater amounts of the good HDL cholesterol. More carbs absorbed by the muscles means lower blood sugar levels and less insulin that tells the muscles to store the blood sugars as fat.

So with that in mind, let’s have a few sample recipes that will work wonders for your palate and your diet as your carb dinner. Eat them without the carbs for your lunch.

Here are some simple yet satisfying recipes:

Chicken cutlets stuffed with sautéed shredded zucchini, diced garlic and mozzarella dipped in a mixture of extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice baked to a golden brown

This next recipe goes well with plain steamed rice:

Beef sirloin cut into strips sautéed with garlic and onions seasoned with oyster sauce and cooked till the meat is tender. Serve with steamed broccoli, sliced carrots and broccoli rub.

Cooked pasta topped with sautéed bacon, minced garlic, diced onions, fresh tomatoes, clams, mussels and shelled shrimps, sprinkled with shredded parsley. Fettuccine or spaghetti may be used.

Very cool, but I wonder if the carbs in the picture are what they’re talking about. 😉

Isn’t it funny…?

…….. the difference between the male and female mind. As I am on this ‘vision quest’, I have a clearly defined vision of myself and my little family living all together very soon in Baja California and very happy.

Now, when it first came to light that I had to make this life changing adventure-vision-quest to move to another country and I put it out to my friends, my girls didn’t so much as raise an eyebrow to the idea. Oh sure they had mentioned about the violence there and all and we discussed the pros and cons. The pros won and they all pretty much with me as to why’s and where fore’s of. They told me that it will all work out and are planning to visit me, hands down, case closed, just tell them where and when and Margaritas and sunsets will ensue on the horizon. No whining  with all positive feedback and plans.

My boys on the other hand (with the exception of one) were all , “WHY do you want to go there its sooo dangerous???” and “YOU’RE not gonna sell that house in THIS economy….” and. “ARE you really moving to Mexico??“ and “WHEN are you moving?“ I get asked that one every time I talk to that one, and I explain, AGAIN that I cannot DO anything until my house is sold.

To go along with that previous, this is my favorite:

When I decided to make this move over two years ago now, I would talk to one of my boys every week or two. I would give him the update on my purging and packing process. As at the time, I had a lot more of it to do. And EVERY time he would ask me: “Where are you moving to?“ (I’d call that one my “10 Second Tom“, the character in 50 First Dates, who’s memory only lasts for 10 seconds, but his name isn’t Tom so….) I don’t know, did he think the answer would change if he kept on asking?

So they say the WHOLE country of Mexico is dangerous and in ruin. And I just woke up one day smack dab in the middle of this real estate crisis and oh so wistfully cute and dreamily, if you will, without any given thought to my thoughts because yes I am a female and “not as smart as my male counterparts“(NOT!) , just up and decided to sell my house and move to another country. While I understand their concern, none have researched my new country and only see what the news media shows.

My girls, again, after being told of my plans and some even knew the benefits of my moving there (better weather for me, affordable help with my mother, affordable living, new experiences, the ability to work on and enjoy my craft, getting the rest I so need, and are still like, just tell us when and where and we’ll be there.

I have asked my boys if they had any other suggestions for me, given my responsibilities and the difficulties I have gone through, all on my own . To date, not a one. Has any of them stepped up to the plate to offer any help……..?

On the other hand, if the flip-flop was on the other foot, and the cooler of Corona on the other side of the deck chair, could these male counterparts find the good in a country that is having major problems affecting the community, and economy and take the chance for someone they loved and trusted and pick up house and home and move to be with that one……….?

I’m just sayin’.
